Relief From Back Pain and Sciatica

The first step toward treating back pain is finding the cause. There are many potential causes of musculoskeletal back pain:

  • Arthritis (most commonly Osteoarthritis)
Disc Degenerative Disease (aka Intervertebral Disc Degeneration)
Spondylosis (includes decay of all aspects of the spine)
  • Disc Injury (aka ‘slipped disc’, ‘disc tear’, ‘ruptured disk’.  Includes, Disc Herniation and Disc Bulges)
  • Facet Joint Sprain
  • Spondylolisthesis
  • Scoliosis (not painful in itself, but the uneven pressure of spine can lead to pain)
  • Ligament Sprain
  • Muscle Strain and Muscle Spasms
  • MyoFascial Trigger Points
  • Osteoporosis
  • Sciatica, Pinched Nerve
The sciatic nerve can be pinched at several locations, including the spine, or nearby muscles such as the piriformis muscle.

How chiropractic approaches back pain and sciatica:

1. Find the cause of the problem

By performing a detailed history and physical exam of the spine. We may order for special tests, such as X-Rays if it is indicated. We can then make a full assessment from a chiropractic persepctive.

2.   Giving you our best recommendation to get relief, recover and achieve your goals.

We will be honest with you about whether chiropractic care can help you. We will also recommend and refer to other practitioners if that is indicated.
